If you’re a Star Wars fan, you know all about LucasFilm in San Francisco. It’s located in the Presidio which is also where the Disney Family Museum lives. So if you’re already in the area, this is a must-go, especially if you even remotely like Star Wars.

Here’s what you need to know when you go.
- It’s FREE!
- Hours 8am – 5pm, weekdays only
- Address: 1 Letterman Dr, San Francisco, Ca 94129
When you arrive, you’ll check in with the guard at the gate and just let them know you want to visit the lobby or the Yoda statue. They will know exactly what you are talking about. Our guard interaction was very pleasant and he even tried to “turn me away” for being from LA.
Look who greets you when you walk into the lobby! It’s R2D2!

The lobby is open the the public but it is a work space, so just make sure you’re being respectful of the folks that actually WORK there. You can still fan-girl or fan-boy hard, just do it quietly.
There are a lot of fun memorabilia pieces all over the lobby, mostly Star Wars but a few other things here and there. The book cases are filled with statues, awards, books, and replicas from the films.

Leia’s blaster!

It was relatively quiet when we went on a Monday afternoon. Which was great because who wants a ton of people in the back of your photos? A tour group did show up when we were on our way out so just keep that in mind when you visit.
Depending on how into the franchise you are, you can spend hours here just looking at all the small details. The campus is also a short walk from the Palace of Fine Arts and of course, there is a Starbucks you can visit if you need something to drink after all that excitement.
